The Tsuchinoko is a curious and mischievous creature, but our experiences with them were relatively lovely, actually.

Tsuchinoko are almost solely found in Japan but they have told us that some of their own can be found straying along the edges of China as well. We sort of found them on accident while investigating something completely unrelated. While looking into a spirit of wealth, our investigation had led us to a series of caves, within which we had hoped to find hidden treasures linked with the spirit in question. However, we instead came across a strange species of snake that apparently lurk peaceful within these caves, which are not overbearingly large but they have some peculiar abilities that made them stand out above just any other serpent.

For one, they could communicate with us perfectly and they appeared very calm and friendly. However, we did experience fairly early on that the snakes themselves have a aptitude for deceit. They are habitual liars and tend to attempt to constantly lure individuals in to something, which had almost been successful on several occasions—we had to constantly be on our toes.

The Tsuchinoko had eventually led us to the cave we had been previously searching for; within which were an abundance objects but very few were actually empowered. We had still found what we were looking for and intended to bring our investigation to a close.

For the time being, we had camped out in the cave for the night with the intention to return in the morning.

Among the snakes, as the species only lives for so long, it is a tradition for the snakes to live out their life in physical form until they eventually reach a point in which they are about to die. Just before it happens, their spirits are taken and put into vessels, within which they are intended to thrive for all eternity. However, previously, the pieces had not been necessarily indestructible or even fairly stable. When this issue was expressed to us, in exchange for having helped us find the cave that we had been seeking, we helped them strengthen their tradition by showing them ways to help their vessels withstand the trials of time.

The response was unexpected. The Tsuchinoko were extremely grateful for our aid in practically guaranteeing them a form of immortality and one of the oldest and wises members of their species whom was due to undergo the tradition himself had decided that he, once being placed in his vessel, would be given to us out of gratitude.

Which is how we have come to possess this particular piece. It is empowered with the abilities of an old and wise Tsuchinoko and with it you can sway one to your will. Like the Tsuchinoko who can make one believe nearly anything it wants to believe, get whatever they want from whomever they choose, and can even convince others to obey them, you will be able to do the same. The Tsuchinoko within this piece, as a master of deceit, will also be able to tell if one is attempting to deceive you and will allow you to be aware of it instantly.
